In this article we list some useful php backup scripts.
1. SmartBackup – An intuitive backup manager
SmartBackup is a highly configurable php application which automatically archives your website’s files and database (only MySQL for now). In addition to keeping the archives locally, it can export those archives to a FTP server and Dropbox account. You can also create multiple backup jobs which run at different intervals of time. You can specify a maximum number of backup archives to be kept (when a new one is made an old one is deleted) for each of your backup jobs. There are also email notifications!
2. Ultimate PHP Site Backup v2.0
An extremely powerful, robust, yet simple tool for website owners which allows you to backup websites and databases in seconds, automatically, so you never have to worry about them again. The software itself is written in PHP , and runs on your web server. Simply upload it to your server, configure a number of files or (remote or local) MySQL databases which you need backed up, and set a button. UPSB will take care of the rest, saving those files to a zip, classifiying it by date, all in the background without intervention, according to a custom schedule. You can specify different schedules for different sets of files/dbs. Backups can now be stored on remote FTP servers, or sent as email attachments.

So you can start the script via cronjob automatically and it makes clean it’s work. It is also very light and gentle.

The Excel format is most noteworthy as people will appreciate being able to download a native Excel document of data from your site, it will also make you look more professional by allowing a download of a file that people do not expect to be dynamic
